YEAR-OVER-YEAR CHANGE
The change incurred one year later from one period to the next. Year-over-year changes are often reported when month-to-month or quarter-to-quarter changes have regular seasonal fluctuations (such as retail sales rising just before Christmas) which can mask underlying trends.

YIELD CURVE
The relationship between the yield and the term to maturity of bonds that are similar except for their maturity date. A normal or positively-sloped yield curve is one in which longer-term maturities have higher yields than shorter-term maturities. A negative yield curve results from a decline in long-term bond yields while short-term rates are rising. Also called an inverted yield curve. The yield curve is also known as the term structure of interest rates.
